The Missing Piece: Where Education Meets Real Life

Many young people today are working hard towards academic success and vocational achievement.

Schools are expanding their focus on wellbeing, relationships and personal development. Parents are doing their best to prepare their children for the future.

But the world has changed. The internet now exerts a constant influence. Social pressure has become relentless. Attention is increasingly fragmented. Artificial intelligence is reshaping the future of work, communication and decision-making.

Many of the challenges young people will face simply didn't exist a generation ago.

The traditional transition toolkit is no longer enough for a hyper-connected world.

Young people need more than knowledge. They need judgement, resilience and practical confidence.

They need the ability to recognise risk, think clearly under pressure and make better decisions when it matters most.

PAS bridges the gap between education and life, helping young people develop the personal agency, confidence and real-world skills needed to thrive in an uncertain future.

PAS USP A Frictionless Hybrid Approach: Everyone is busier than ever. That is why our interactive digital lessons are designed to be bite-sized—taking approximately 10 minutes to complete each lesson. Upon completion of Level 1, they are invited to an immersive, local in-person workshop.

PAS USP Workshops to Supercharge Confidence: Unlike traditional courses where time is wasted learning the basics in a class setting, our students arrive at the workshop already understanding the core concepts and physical movements. This allows us to spend the time polishing their form and safely pressure-testing their skills with an experienced instructor.

PAS USP Steady, Incremental Development: Completing just one to two levels yearly fits seamlessly into any life, ensuring that by the time they reach full independency, they possess a superior, deeply ingrained skill set that maximises life opportunities while navigating away from danger.

PAS USP Holistic Character Growth: PAS develops the whole person. Combining emotional resilience, communication, personal safety and practical life skills, it helps young people build confidence, strengthen decision-making and develop the resilience needed to thrive in an increasingly complex world.

PAS USP Life-ready Learning: PAS helps students connect education with everyday life. Drawing on principles from Psychology, Science, Business, Entrepreneurship and RSHE, it develops the confidence, resilience and decision-making skills needed beyond the classroom.

PAS USP Supporting Duke of Edinburgh Achievement: PAS provides a structured pathway for developing practical life skills, confidence and personal growth. Levels 1 and 2 align with the requirements of the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Skills section, with advanced levels currently being developed to support progression towards Silver and Gold Awards.

What age is PAS Training recommended for?

PAS Training is specifically designed for young people aged 12 to early 20s. Training during these formative years allows progress through the levels at a pace to suit, ensuring that by the time students head to university, start work, or travelling the world, they are highly skilled experts in self-protection.

That said, Agency has no age limit. If you are older and looking to sharpen your tactical, verbal, and physical agency, this course provides the essential "Identity Armour" needed to bolster you up in the modern world.

It's never too late to upgrade your life!

How can PAS Training be delivered into schools, colleges and universities?

PAS Training is designed to be flexible and can be delivered in a way that best suits student's, timetable, and existing provision.

As a standalone programme, students complete the digital learning modules independently, either at home or during allocated study time. This option can also support Duke of Edinburgh Award participants.

End-of-level practical workshops are delivered as one-off events to reinforce learning and further develop physical agency skills.

PAS Training can be incorporated into your existing RSHE curriculum. Instructors can work alongside your staff or visit your institution to deliver practical sessions and workshops that complement the digital learning programme.

For more information about curriculum integration, please contact Helen Morris at helen@pastraining.co.uk.

As an extracurricular or enrichment programme, PAS Training can be delivered as an after-school club, activity, or half-term programme. Students progress through the digital content while receiving additional support and practical instruction from trained PAS instructors.

For more information about extracurricular delivery options, please contact info@pastraining.co.uk.

Whichever delivery model you choose, PAS Training provides a structured pathway to help your young people develop greater confidence, resilience, situational awareness, and personal agency.

What do you mean by "Not Hope. Not Fear. Live Ready!"

Think about how we treat swimming. We are an island nation surrounded by water, yet we don’t just leave our children's safety to chance. We don’t skip swimming lessons and blindly "hope" they’ll be okay if they fall into a pool. On the flip side, we don’t keep them locked indoors away from lakes and beaches out of "fear" of them drowning.

Instead, we simply train them to swim. We give them the skills to handle the environment.

PAS Training applies this exact same logic to all areas of personal safety. Right now, too many people rely on a passive strategy of "hope" that nothing bad will ever happen. Others live completely restricted by the "fear" of what might go wrong.

When you complete PAS Training, you move past both extremes. You bypass the hesitation of hope and the paralysis of fear. You develop the exact cognitive, verbal, and physical habits required to navigate the world safely. You don't guess, and you don't panic—you just Live Ready with automatic, effective real-world tools.

Is the content going to be too heavy for my 13 year old.. scams, domestic violence, predators etc?

PAS Training is not about spoiling childhoods or forcing young people to grow up too fast. That is precisely why our early levels do not directly dive into heavy topics like domestic violence—even though, be warned, the statutory school RSHE curriculums now do.

Instead, Levels 1 and 2 focus entirely on deconstructing the mechanics of decision making. This allows us to explore how external influence operates, and how stronger versions—manipulation and coercion—work, without scaring the hell out of them.

These foundational levels build a robust framework for smart decision-making by pulling back the curtain on how perception, blind spots, and biochemical triggers shape our behavior. We also frontload verbal agency as a primary tool to assert boundaries and shut down manipulation early. While advanced physical defence is layered throughout the levels, we recognise that many children begin walking to school independently from a young age. The earlier we can equip them with instinctive, non-escalatory skills like escaping grabs, the safer and more autonomous they become.

What if I’m too busy with my studies and clubs?

Between exam prep, hobbies, and sports, your schedule is already packed—we totally get that. That’s exactly why PAS Training is built for high-speed lives. Each lesson is approximately 10 minutes long, making it the perfect "brain break".

Because many lessons are physical, they offer a great way to decompress and move your body after hours of study. Ideally, you can complete one level in about five weeks by doing one short lesson a day (keeping your weekends free). Our interactive workshops are scheduled for weekends or holidays to ensure they never clash with your schooling or work commitments.

Is there a monthly subscription?

No—we hate recurring subscriptions as much as you do! PAS training is divided into manageable Levels (1 through 6), allowing students to focus on one stage at a time. You simply purchase each level as you go, with no hidden fees or surprise charges.

You’ll find the pricing is highly affordable, especially considering the lifelong skills and "Identity Armour" you get to develop. Each level purchased is yours for life!

Does PAS Training teach you to be fearful?

Quite the opposite. Most young people already know the world can be unpredictable; PAS Training simply gives you the tools to understand it and manage it. Our goal isn't to make you look for danger, but to empower you with Identity Armour to deal with danger if it ever comes your way.

Think of it as a "cheat sheet" for a more flourishing life. You’ll learn that avoiding danger usually only requires a simple tactical adjustment. You’ll gain the verbal agency to de-escalate trouble before it starts, keeping physical skills as your final, failsafe backup. When you know how to handle the unexpected, you don't live in fear—you live in freedom.

What happens at the workshops and how much do they cost?

This is where our Hybrid Training becomes truly powerful. It enables some learning of physical agency techniques within an online, 10-minute daily burst—like the 'footwork for maintaining distance' (Lesson 3) or the 'head protection drills' (Lesson 5) —so there's no need to show up to a workshop "cold."

Instead, skills are already "warmed up." This allows our trainers to skip the basics and spend the full session polishing, perfecting, and pressure-testing techniques in real-time scenarios.

  • Open Workshops: Typically £25.00 for a high-impact 2-hour session.

  • Private Workshops: You can also organise a private session for your own "team group" to train together and compete on the leaderboard in a private online/offline community setting.

Do you promote political or religious ideology?

Absolutely not. The best way to understand our approach is through an analogy: think of yourself as a high-performance car. PAS Training teaches you to look under the bonnet, understand how every part works, and learn how to get the best, most sustainable performance out of the engine (your wellbeing). We teach you how to drive that car with total skill and awareness, but we never tell you which direction to go. That is what we mean by being the "author of your own life". When you have the wisdom to understand yourself and the world around you, navigation becomes easy, and your direction is based on your true, unmanipulated choices.

Meet the Creators of PAS Training

Stuart Kirby

I am the author of the book 'Savvy Up,' a book I wrote to help seniors navigate our new digitial environment and avoid scams and modern day threats. But as a father, my focus shifted to the generations behind me. Watching my daughter grow up in a world that is changing at breakneck speed, I realised that today’s young people face threats—both digital and physical—that didn't exist a generation ago.

I’ve spent 44 years immersed in Japanese martial arts, including seven years living and training in Japan. These systems aren't just about fighting; they are an holistic approach to safety and wellbeing built on scientific principles that give you the edge in a highly competitive way and work to overcome manipulative environments.  I’ve combined this experience with the philosophy of Kaizen—the pursuit of continuous, small improvements—to help students who find it difficult to focus in an age of constant distraction.

PAS Training is the result of that journey. True self-defence starts long before a situation turns physical. It begins with the ability to spot manipulation, recognise when your decisions are being hijacked by hormones or social pressure, and having the verbal agency to shut it down instantly. My mission is to give young people the "Identity Armour" they need to be the active authors of their own lives, responding with clarity and control instead of just reacting to the world around them.

Stuart Kirby Co-Creator of PAS Training

Helen Morris

As a mother of two and someone who works closely with young people in education, I see every day how challenging it can be for children to navigate today’s increasingly complex world.

My background is in communications and marketing, but in recent years my focus has shifted toward supporting young people to become more confident, resilient, and engaged in their own development. Through my work in schools, I have seen first-hand how many students struggle with self-belief, decision-making, and the pressures they face both online and in everyday life.

PAS is deeply personal to me. It combines my passion for education with a strong desire to help young people build the awareness, confidence, and practical skills they need to make better decisions and take greater control of their lives.

Together, Stuart and I have developed PAS to give young people the “Identity Armour” to recognise manipulation, trust their instincts, and grow into calm, capable individuals who are better prepared for the challenges of modern life.
